  • Cannot decide new(42mm) or old(40mm) Explorer II

Has always been thinking of getting my first Rolex (Rolex Explorer II), and now has finally decided to get it for the coming New Year.
Knowing that the new Rolex Explorer II (42mm) has been launched recently, will it considers wise to buy the older model (40mm, remaining stock) now? I cannot decide even knowing that the older one (40mm) costs lesser by 2k.
Really hope to listen to some experts’ opinion, and considerations.Thanks.
For the appearance, I find both the newer and old one are equally attractive.

compare both side by side and ask yourself which one is pleasing to your eyes
As I am new here, so I don't really know how to appreciate these upgraded functions.
For sure these watches match me equally, I think. It is a "love at first" thing.
But, after 5 years to 6 years later when it reaches time to upgrade, will the older model worth much lesser. For instance, if given a choice to buy a 40mm and 42mm years later, for both watch made in the same year, will more people(buyers) prefer get the 42mm instead? So, 40mm becomes very unpopular at that time?

IT's a no brainer, buy both.

But I would go for the 42mm black dial if can only afford one
        That's my personal preference.

I will get the 42mm for a simple reason..

40mm looks small on my wrist.. not sure why, but the sub looks just fine..

must be due to psychological effect..

comparing to older subs, the Sub c looks bigger on the wrist althought they are both 40mm, It's the new style casing which makes it looks "bigger"

Ya, buying both will solve this problem now, but other problem will arise later. Like, which should I wear ? "Ar...the bigger one or smaller one?"..."How about the big one on right and smaller one on left?" ...LOL

Since when Explorer II (16570) is a vintage?

Not sure if explorer (40mm) 2 is considered vintage, but surely it is still available in some local AD.

If you are going for 40mm expII, might as well get a 2nd hand one. No point saving 2k only, might as well save 5k.

Get the new Explorer. Better specs and bigger case.
