fakes are sometimes hard to tell. i have come across non genuine ones that really looks like the real one.
unless one is really interested into rolex and do substantial research on the watches, else it is hard to tell. there are usually some tell tale signs. however, base on first look and without handling the watch. it is not easy.
there was a case where a shop owner cannot even tell if the watch is not genuine until the case back was open.
for rolex, there are new features to make it hard to duplicate. however, after some time, these non genuine ones will appear.
for the really good non genuine ones, it can cost up to several thousands. however, most people wont spend that kind of money on a non genuine product. however, can you imagine if someone wants to pull a fast one on the shops? buy a say 2000 non genuine one and attempt to convince others it has a street value of a genuine one?
