Correct me if I'm wrong... my understanding is most of us refer alpha numeric series to the series starting in Feb 2010, where the prefix letter designation on the serial number is disappearing. The new alpha numeric serial number has letters interspersed in the number e.g. XXXDXXX

Yes you are not wrong. The 'alpha numeric' series should refer to the newer series, from 2010 on. The 'M' series production should be between 2007 & 2008. If what TS' described was accurate, he/she'd have actually bought a 'NOS' - 'New-Old-Stock'.

omg really? i paid 9975 for the watch and was told that it's a ALPHA NUMERIC SERIES watch where it clearly stated serial number starting with letter "M"

hour glass insisted that it is a alphanumeric series watch. i believe them because it is THE HOUR GLASS. thinking that they are so big so it must be true . :'(

To TS: FYI i have seen GMT IIc model serial no. starting with PXXXXXXX. if you have doubt just bring to RSC to check.

if it is alpha numeric then TS had a great deal: new piece with old pricing! current retail price is 10500.

another thing to highlight if it is alphanumeric it should come with total of 8 alphabets and numbers.

are "alpha numeric" and "random serial" refering to the same thing?

Hi TS, I bought a new GMT IIc half gold from THG as well and guess what? The serial number come with ZXXXXXXX. I had spoken to the guy and he confirm it is brand new stock. I had bought like 5 watches from them in 2 days and only the GMT IIc is ZXXXXXX. The others are either G series or alpha numeric.

For sure it is genuine since u bought from AD. Just to ask RSC the manufacture date and i believe they will help.
