Dial on GMT II and Submariner

Is the black dial of the GMT II (16710) and Subamriner of the same material ?

The GMT II one seems to be kind of ceramic, it is not like a smooth metal surface whereas the Submariner one seem to be made of metal.

Are they different ? or is it my eyes playing trick on me...
