Guess this thread got a bit OT…. LOL.

Just bought my 1st rolex, and it is a 14060m COSC from a local AD. The reason why I choose the 14060m is that it is thinner, more comfortable to wear, cheaper for a brand new, best of all, it has a aluminum bezel which I most likely would bang it up. My heart would break if a ceramic bezel broke and I have to pay $900 to replace it. As for the date, I bought a cheap LCD car date clock ($10 from Mustafa) for use when tearing carpark coupons.

I have a Ball DLC engineer II which I chipped the 'diamond like carbon coated' case against a concrete wall, a Ball Spacemaster which I dinged the edge of the case against the cast-iron vice in the workshop during my daily wear. Still trying to protect my 14060m, but I guess, if I have to use it as a daily beater, I should start treating the sub as a tool watch and forget about scratches. My tudor hydronaut is a good example of a 'tool watch' and it is covered with scratches, but nothing a good polish can't remove.

What is the point of buying good reliable watches if we can't wear it as it is intended to. Have not flipped any of my watches coz I guess the way I wear them, it is hard to sell. =(

Don't think that I will buy the more recent rolex models and use them as tool watches as I feel they are designed to look pretty and for ballroom dancing…. The new explorer II however look good as a dress watch for use during wedding dinners…

i too, don't think i will be buying any of the new rolex watches. i think they are priced too high... the only one i will consider is the WG blue ceramic sub but i think at that price i will probably get a patek sports watch instead.

at the moment the closest thing i have to a rolex beater is an explorer 2 - and only because i got it for cheap! i just had the cyclops removed and (no, not a plug for mcdonald's) i'm lovin it. i don't think i'll be flipping it because... serial number is VERY CLOSE TO THE ONE i bought and sold many many years ago when i bought my first exp2...!
