      well, I did read that particular review with an open mind . Perhaps too open minded in this case that I would be lead to assume that Walt Odets was referring to the flaws and quality issues of the caliber 3000 movements in general and not an isolated movement anomaly found in a particular 14270. And you are right that he got flamed for that review because if his views were technically substantiated, then it also bodes ill for the earlier Sub No-date 14060 produced from 1990 to early 2000 since they too were encased with the same caliber 3000 movements. It was his subjective opinions but if generally what he had written about the 14270 was to be believed, then I would think the 14270 would have been written off by many potential owners. It was against this line of thought that prompted my earlier post. But its a personal thing when it comes to choices of watches, so as they always say; "buy whatever that smiles to u".

        beauty...

        althou i dont own a 14270 or either a explorer 1 series... but thats my very next watch in line.. i would say its the most beautiful watch i had ever seen. thou simple and yet so charming and beautiful. its just stand in balance between a dress watch and sports whereas almost everywhere, anytime, anyhow you have every single reason to wear it.. i hope i own a explorer 1 real soon.. be it a 14270 or a 114270.. its still a beauty forever..
