  • Advice needed for new GMT IIc

    dear fellow rolex lovers here,

i just got my 1st rolex watch and this is also my 1st automatic watch. Wanna ask how long can the battery for the watch last if i dun wear it. Cos i notice tat the watch stop moving after abt less than 2 days of not wearing - IS THIS NORMAL?
If its normal, how do i keep it moving? Do i have to wind it everyday and wats the proper way to do it?

Thanks for all fellow bros advise, excited and hope that my watch is not spoilt cos its new.
    My humble collection:
    - GMT IIc 116710 V series (Mar 10)
    - IWC Portuguese IW 5001-07

Dun be afraid of hard work, be afraid if you have no work...

    Bro, congrats on your purchase

firstly, if it is automatic watch, no battery inside one lah... battery watches are known as 'quartz watch' and they go on and on and on till the battery is dead

GMT2c... as with other auto watches... normal power reserve about 40 hours ish... give and take a bit. So, it is normal you use one day, rest one day, third day pick up the watch and it appears to have stopped moving

unless you get those 8 days power reserve or 7 days power reserve type... dun worry bout it.

one more advise is good to keep ur watch moving everyday either wear it or do the rolex shake everyday.

                Congrat to your new watch.

                Hope to get one soon

... or buy a watch winder as another solution.

Congrats! It's always an achievements whenever one buys a Rolex watch.

Not to worry, Rolex watches are very well built, though not 100% handmade. With the new parachrom hairspring, this new GMT is very reliable. This watch if fully wound, has about 48 hrs of power reserve. As there is no way to wind fully, there is only approximately 48 hrs of power reserve. Depending how the watch is placed, it may lose some accuracy so the watch may stop earlier.

There are a few school of thoughts in maintaining the watch. You could wind it everyday or place it inside a winder which winds the watch automatically. If not as long as you use the watch daily, it's good enough. Wear the watch. To certain extend, watch lovers like us are no longer seeing the watch for time or date, but to appreciate it as an art or interest. Hope your collection grows. Once you started on the first piece, more will come.

                        Sorry,

Was told that there's something call the pre-face and facelift model for GMT IIc.

                        Is there such a thing?

The GMTII'C' is acronyn for the new GMTII which comes with Ceramic bezel. The gold/TT was first introduced in 2005-6 as a new 50th anniversary piece with the traditional 'green' design introduced to model that hit 50years. ie the words GMT Master II and the GMT hands are green. In 2007, the SS model was introduced. So if you are talking about the GMTII'C', technically there is only the current one that has been newly introduced.

However if you are talking about the past GMT models, there were the coke , pepsi , root beer, etc. These are non Ceramic models.

To add on to that, of course with the new GMTIIC, there are quite substantial change from the previous GMTII , apart from ceramic bezel, such as the maxi dial, thicker case, new movement - 3186 using blue parachrom spring, triplock crown, solid centre links , a easy extendable bracelet, etc.
