  • Sea-Dweller pricing?

I have been out shopping for a Sea Dweller.

One shop quoted me $5k w/o papers. no idea about age.
Another quoted me $5.3k with boxes/papers... from 1999/2000.
    Another quoted me $5.8k with boxes/papers ... from 2005.

Can anyone share their knowledge with me what would be a good price for these watches?

I am mulling whether 7 years difference justifies the $500 difference.

rolex sports models list prices rise about 450 a year on avg. however, yr of manufacture should not be the primary concern. the condition of watch is more important.

however, if u intend to flip. then i think getting a lower price one is more suitable.

No intention of flipping ... just for wearing. Condition of both look somewhat similar.

I think a new one today is about $7350 approx. discounted.

This means a 7-yr old piece is 28% cheaper than new and a 2-yr old piece is 23% cheaper.

Is this a fair discount for a resale piece?

the modern sd is basically the same watch all these years....

suggest you bargain a little bit for the 5.3 k watch......then send it for a rsc service......u get an almost new watch !

in the end also about 5.8k haha

                    Superluminova

When buying pre-owned SD's do take note that any Rolexes from before @1999 is likely to use Tritium for its luminous markers. The Tritium loses most of its glow after about 7 years, and stops glowing after 15 years. The lume from my 1991 datejust stopped glowing several years ago. The Superluminova Lume used after 1999 is supposed to last indefinitely, although it does not glow as long after exposure to light than Tritium.
