Has anyone seen the old GMT-I for sale locally?

Any idea what they cost? Looking for those late 60s or early 1970s.

i would be inclined to believe that they are real @ pawn shop. this is assuming that the pawn shop paid the some where close to market value for the watch.

if a pawn shop paid say 2K for a replica rolex, this would mean that the shop got duped. in this instance, i would say very rare. not saying it is not possible considering the good quality replica available these days and rolex papers and box and COSC stickers and green tags and etc are available for purchase in the open market

however, there could be a case where the shop sold a replica to a unsuspecting buyer for 2k where the replica cost 200.

after all, if get from pawn shop, there is no reason why one should not bring the watch to RSC for verification.

actually... how do pawn shops know if it's replica, etc... since replicas nowadays are bascially 99% real... only way to find out is to open the caseback and check the movement...

I think the only way is to do as many checks as possible before buying, then do other things:
            1) factor in $75 into the price for an RSC check.
            2) An understanding that if it is fake, the shop will refund you the sale price + $75.
