The new movement in GMT II

Since the new GMT II is using the new improved movement.

Is this movment also being used on the Explorer II or only available in GMT II ?

The Exp II 16570 is driven by the Cal 3185. The new GMT II 116710 is, however, driven by the Cal 3186, which has an added pachrom spring (IIRC), and is said to be more accurate.

So currently, both are driven by different movements. But there're rumours saying that the Exp II will be upgraded to Cal 3186 after Basel 08.

Let's wait and see if it happens or not.

But there might be 3186's in 16710's

This is mentioned in other places on the forum, but its germane here....

Apparently, there are 3186 movements showing up in the older 16710 cases and is suspected to be in the Rolex engraved chapter ring-ed Explorer II's.
