  • Advice on modding TT Sub

    Hi Bros and sis.

Recently purchased a 16613 black TT submariner.

Always dreamt of the Blue TT version but couldn't find one that I can afford (mostly new models)

I saw someone selling the original blue dial, Bazel and Hour/Minute/second pointer online for $1000 and he says that it can be fitted into a 16613

I asked who can modify it and he recommended me Mr Lim from TOP Hour lucky plaza as it wil only cost $75 and roughly an hour to modify it and change my watch from a black to a blue TT. In future if I suddenly feel like wearing a black TT then I can always change it again

Now I need advice from experience Bros and sis here.

1 ) will it affect the overall value of my watch?

    2) if I mod the watch and in future if I send to SIngspore Rolex center for serving will they reject or not give me a certificate ?

    3) is it even ok in the first place to modify it?

    4) what do u guys think about Mr Lim from TOP hour. Read online that he's a ex Rolex technician but I'm not experienced with Rolex watch, heard many stories of people switching original parts for fake ones et

    Please advice

    1) depends on potential buyer. some mind, some don't.

    2) what certificate are you referring to? as far as i know, there are no certificate issued by Singapore Rolex Service Centre

    3) modifying a watch is up to individual preferences.

    4) everyone's experiences with watch technician is different. if you don't trust the watch technician's reputation. just don't visit the technician in concern. alternatively, you can check with the watch technician if it is ok for you to see the work required by you.

      Likely, it will (affect).

As long as the watch and parts are genuine, they should not reject it. Previously, a friend sent in a ROLEX watch, he bought from a pre-owned watch shop, for servicing at the RSC. The watch was accepted for service and later returned to him. During which, my friend was informed by the RSC staff that the dial wasn't the actual dial color for the watch model.

To modify a watch is up to individual. As long as you like it, I don't see any harm.

I have heard about him too but have not tried his service or bought anything from him. It's your call.
