A pic of just the dial...taken from ablogtowatch...

Already the Dssd is huge and heavy for most people, will this new dial gives the Dssd a better edge?

      yes. black is forever classic.

however this is more like to commemorative edition. different from hulk.

But the new double combo dial? Will it last the test of time?

I have read owners of the Hulk flipping theirs cause they get bored with the green and resort back to the classic black.

But no doubt this is indeed an interesting approach by Rolex.

Both models are to commemorate an event.

The LV/Hulk is to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Submariner and the Blue Dssd to commemorate JC solo dive to the bottom of the Marianna Trench with the Deepsea Challenge Sub.

        And both...are regular production offerings.

                  yes. it is correct.

LV is to 50th anniversary. hulk is not considered as it is produced after the 50th anniversary. i view the hulk is more like to continue the LV legacy.

this version of deep sea is more of "james cameron" and is similar to the paul newman daytona.

the dial on this version of dssd has a "james cameron signature"

yes. they are going to be regular production.

Too early to reach a verdict. Let's see the actual piece first.

From the pictures, I actually find it attractive.
I find it a surprising departure from the normally conservative Rolex design.
Whether I can carry off its massive size is another issue though.
Gotta wear it on the wrist and see if it works.

It's beautiful. Need to get used to the DEEPSEA being below the hands and crowding the words there.

If the "Deepsea" is on top will be perfect. Somehow it looks too bottom heavy.

i think the dial looks kinda busy though, too many wordings, especially the "Original Gas......." & "Ring......"

lovely colour though, a nice deviation from the usual black
