          It is more than mere 'error'. The stick is more commonly known as 'stick' dial. It indicates a 3186 movement inside - a rare production run for the non-ceramic GMT II - hence the relatively high price quoted.

            I must quickly go back to take my loop to check my Explorer II . Or is Explorer ll (eleven).
            So can fetch a bit more ???

                You may be more worried if your EXII has a stick dial as I don't think EXII has such a dial.

                  that's not true - there were older gmt 2s (non-ceramic) that had the stick dial but did not have 3186.

                    this stick dial isn't a QC issue - it's the result of the plate used in the dial printing process. the plate must have been scrutinized by rolex and approved for use... whatever the design on the plate will be transferred onto the dial.
