Daytona WG with leather strap: can change to SS bracelet?

Bro,
I had a chat with a watch dealer the other day. He said that his ideal and value-for-money watch would be the Rolex Daytona white gold meteorite dial with leather strap. Why leather strap? because that is cheaper than getting the full white gold bracelet...

He then said that he would swap the leather strap with Stainless Steel Daytona bracelet - and then everyone would think that the entire assemble is white gold ... including the bracelet (which actually is only SS)!

So the question is - is it possible to swap leather strap on Daytona, and replace it with Stainless Steel bracelet? He said he knows how to do it (of course RSC will never do it for us). Yes, we note that there is an extra piece of "bracelet" at the lug position adjoining the leather bracelet... He said he can remove this entirely...

Any insights on the above possibility would be helpful. Thank you.

he's not the first and wont be the last to think of it...

and this was discussed at lengths in many other watch forums.... do a search in one of them and u can find out more about it....

yes the end piece on the leather strap daytona can be removed once the bezel is off.........

haha i didnt say it is doable....

i only said the metal pieces can be removed.... as to whether the bracelet SEL fits the case nicely, i am sure u can get the answer by searching.... it's part of the fun to hunt around for info.....
