Just want to share my DD white gold I purchased 3 weeks ago.
Pre-owned,this crisis made it possible for me to buy.
I immediately rush down to RSC on the same day to have it checked and they confirmed all parts original but the verification costs me $100.

I have been looking for one for whole of last year and every dealer asked for
more than $20K for white gold. Finally last month, I found this 1996 piece.

Opening price $18,500.
I said : That is above my budget, give me your best price I'm serious, not asking for fun. They called their boss and said $16800.
I counter offer $15,000. I give deposit now if ok.
Dealer said NO WAY, too close to their costs.
I stood up to go.
Dealer said last price $16,300 because they still need to pay $500 for credit card charges .
I counter offer again $15,500 I pay you cash today,will go bank withdraw today.
Dealer said Deal !!!
I went RSC and they told me for Datejust, Sports series verification is $75.
For the President they charge President price $100! RSC I cannot bargain ha!

Just for those who are interested in Yellow Gold DD, the prices are around $12500 to $15000 depending on year and condition.

I bought white gold because I did a survey with all my female friends and colleagues and all say White Gold nicer for guys,more class. yellow gold remind them Ah Bengs and Bookies, loansharks.

In addition,I read this book last month about an FBI agent in New York who went undercover in the Mafia between 1999 to 2004 titled "Making Jack Falcone", the FBI agent said the first thing you got to wear to look like a respectable mafia guy is an all gold Rolex president, then other mobsters will take you seriously. Looks like all of them have the same taste worldwide!

One of the friends sum it up nicely for me,if you wear the white gold DD, I will call you "Mr President Sir" and salute you,if YG you will be known as the "Lolex King" ha! .

I'm starting to suspect that the prices are not steady. Why I say that? Because sometimes I hear sports series abit more expensive (S$100/-), now I hear president also S$100/-

Bearing in mind that over the phone, I was told it is S$75 for ALL watches regardless.

Just to share more information, I was chatting with the guy at RSC and found out that a new white gold bracelet alone costs $15,000! so take good care of the bracelet, if broken cannot be repaired, Rolex in Swiss will melt the gold and set off the value against the new one only, they dont repair.

My first choice for DD would be a Rose Gold, followed by White and Yellow.

I still intend to buy a Yellow gold next time because no Rolex collection is complete without a "Lolex King"
