I am a proud owner of a 31mm WG DJ and a 36mm pt DD.
The WG DD is really fantastic! The color will contrast under different lightings-light yellow, grayish, silvery. Therefore WG is interesting! Pt only has 1 color under all lightings- bright Silverish. Pt is beautiful too but a bit boring.
WG is much lighter than Pt. So its more comfortable wearing WG as it has only a subtle heft. The WG reminds u "hey are wearing a gold watch" but the Pt says"hey you are doing weight lifting!"
However pt has its merits over WG. Pt feels very smooth on the skin. If not for its weight, I may seriously forget that I am wearing a watch! WG is smooth on the skin too but the feel of pt is like silk.
Pt is much rarer than gold. Also when economy performs poorly, its price outperforms gold. Owing pt is a privilege.
As for polishing , I heard pt do not lose metal unlike wg.
I love both metals.
