i consider the flip side of risking $15k ($13k actually) as well, which is saving $3k. also, it is hard to find a watch that old with box, papers and recently-serviced. won't do it with anyone of course. i have to be convinced that the seller is bona fide.

Hi Nice watch !
Looks similar to the one I purchased early this year for $15.5K.
Price is good but the risks is always there when you buy online.
sometimes the item you receive may not be what you see and trouble starts when you try to do claim back on your credit card. crook sellers will say you swap the watch.
if you do proceed good luck, check with him how many links are on the watch,I suggest 22 links , for DD because it is heavy solid gold, better wear it loose because on a hot day your wrist will feel strangled!
1 gold link at RSC cost around $750 so make sure you have the 4 extra linksMy 18K Gold Day Date "President" Collection:

thanks. he mentioned that all 24 original links are intact and i counted so from the pics. i checked him out, he seems to have a good track record. wifey thinks i am crazy to want to spend this much on a 10 year old watch though.

yeah, i tried to sell her the same story but she'd rather i get it new. in a way, i understand where she is coming from. 10 years... if this is a car, it has to have its COE renewed.
but more importantly, my heart is sold on getting a WG daytona. check out this beauty - http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=81254
but this is even harder to find and i think more expensive than the DD.
