Watch box's inside leather cracking / falling apart

Not sure if anyone faced similar issue.
The leather inside watch boxes, esp. Patek, Omega, got sticky, cracked and fell apart.

Some of my watches, never worn, but the boxes gave way already.
What do you do with them?
Just let it be, or is there a way to restore them.

Thoughts, ideas and advices welcome.

My omega red box have the same problem. It stick on the white paper box and peel off. What to do? Leave it and hack it lor. Not selling anyway so don't care much.

Has anyone experience this problem with the Rolex case? I also have this problem with my longines watch case. Threw the box away after everything started falling apart.

It's due to moisture and humidity...one effective way to preserve the original condition of the box is to put a generous amt of
drying agent like silica pellets in the box...at least it works for me.

Sorry bro once damage...can't be restored.

The leather in the old Rolex box is as good now as it was 20 years ago. No mould, no problem, stick to Rolex, if you want a good leather clad box!

I do agree with kenn18. The newer boxes now are mostly made from paper which has a leather texture.

So TS,
If the problem is stickiness - solution: just sprinkle a little talcum powder and rub over the sticky spots.
If the problem is cracked exterior - solution: Bopien...uplorry liao... throw to me
If the problem is moldy - solution: dap baby oil on facial cotton and rub the exterior.
If the problem is flacking interior - solution: re-furbishment services by me

I have the same problem. What I did was to put all my watch boxes in a big plastic container with lid (those that you can get from Ikea), throw in a few packets of dessicants (from Daiso) & Thirsty Hippo. Cheapo method but it works for me!

is it due to our environment and humidity? where is the best place to keep our box?

Put Silica and don't remove the packaging paper from the box.
