May I ask if depreciation value is subjective or is there a general guide to how much it will drop each year? especially for a ladies datejust.

I would say that it's nice to know if something that you own will appreciate, cos it will be known as an Asset...Although a watch doesn't make money most of the time, I would still classify a luxury watch as an asset, as the value and price will still appreciate in the long run, even though you might not earn money out of it. So IMO don't buy a watch because of the resale potential, but buy something that you like early, as it will get more expensive to own one as time goes by.

Even though resale models are cheaper, do take into account that for some watches they are not really well taken care of, or they may have underlying issues. So if you are unlucky, then if you include repair costs and stuff, then the costs of the watch would be higher.

Anyways, this is just my two cents worth of thoughts. It's up to you to decide whether its worth it in the long run or not...

I bought Sub LV non ceramic from AD at 8.3k in year 2008, now 2nd hand shop quote me 7.8K it about 6% depreciate till date.
Also bought a used Daytona SS at this Forum in year 2010 at 13.6k now 2nd hand shop quote me 11.3k it about 17% depreciate.

so it about supplies and demand but sport model depreciate less i agreed with those say.

Wa mate... think the 2nd hand shop was really pressing your prices down. I am sure you will get more by selling here

Yap, if price depreciation is a huge bother to you, don't buy one in the first place. Afterall, luxury watches are desired goods not necessities..

                              General depreciation of a watch.

Just wondering if there's any percentage number I need to be aware of before I purchase a brand new watch.
Like maybe ( which I am sure ) after 1-2 years my feeling for the watch waned and wanted to sell.

I am not talking abt those specially edition like the Panerai 217 or 115 but more like the normal rolex submariner or franck Muller.

I don't think Rolex will depreciate that much... On the other hand, I think Franck Muller depreciates more... Saw on an international forum that this dude is only able to sell his FM at 10% of the cost price, and in the end he sold it to another forumer at 70% loss...
