  • A must to write own name on rolex warranty card?

    Hi Snr
Can any1 enlighten me that is it a must to write own name on the rolex warranty card?was about to purchase it when the guy told me must write my own name on the warranty card when I just want to write the date only. Therefore I said I will think about the purchase since he insist I must write own name on it as my friend bought from local AD,which only has the date stated.

Oh Ok,Thanks for the advice Mr Rolexking9 cos a friend of mine only have the date but no name & 1 last question, as of today, the serial number should be random or alphanumeric series but I was offered a G series & according to the guy,he said they can't choose the stocks or the type of serial series that came & last year they were receiving alpha series but recently came G series instead, does it make any diff to the value of the watch?

The practice of writing the name differs from AD to AD I guess, although my guess is that it is a Rolex requirement.

One reason I'm told for G series is that many customers have been requesting for AN series pieces and dealers have sold them the AN leaving the G series stocks unsold. To avoid getting"stuck"in the LIFO situation, dealers will try to push for the G stocks to customers.

i was informed by my AD that they need to send in the photocopied warranty card and invoice back to rolex as a proof to show that they did not sell it below the recommended discount.

why is it that some AD dont perform this practice is anyone guess.

as for series, i would prefer G series even though it can be earlier batch stock. why? at least as a owner you know when this watch was production period. with alphanumeric, there is still no way to trace the production period. only way to know when the alphanumeric was bought is through warranty card. this is where i think having a complete set is useful if one wants to trace production period.

Hi,btw does any1 knows which AD give the best discount?currently looks at 116622 YM blue which the listed price is 15100..n according to salesman, was told it is the least popular among sports series.was quoted at KHH 14.3K.was actualy having this feeling that since least popular, shouldn't the discount be more such as 15 to 18% off to b comparable to those datejust series?

i have seen people put in things like 'Anonymous', or the watch model number eg '116610', or the watch model name eg 'Seadweller', etc etc

The buyer need not have to write a name on the credit card size warranty card, but the date of purchase would be written for warranty period purposes. The AD, local or overseas, should only be concerned about writing the name (plus any ID) on their invoice or Cash Bill for security and accounting reasons, example, for payments by credit cards. Any AD cannot insist the customer to write down the buyer's name on the warranty card - the watch could be a gift, could be a prize in a competition, or kept as a reward and recognition item by companies.

Anyway, the RSC only need to see the warranty card with the date of purchase on it; the warranty is not invalidated because of a lack of buyer's name! Neither would the RSC look at the invoice or any proof of purchase to render warranty services!

Can't really understand why they insists.

But does it affect the resale value? Personally, I would prefer a card without names on it but if there is one, just have to accept it. For resale market, not easy to find one that you like and you are ok with the pricing. Not named is a plus but not a must.

I was just wondering if you bought a 2nd hand one from a chinese guy and noted that an ang moh's name is on it, will you feel it's no longer second hand and don't know how many hands?
