I know a Rolex collector from the US who has 2 dozen Rollies from the 1940s (World War 2 era) to the 1960s and all are in working condition.
My favorite Rose Gold Day Date from 1960s (50 years old) is still running perfectly so I think these watches may last "perpetually".

So servicing is just to make the watch super accurate?
That being said, if i dun mind the watch go 5-10 min slower every few months or years, i can just dun service it?
I buy watch cus its pretty, i like it n for symbol, not particular about movement etc
Regular servicing and replacement with original parts (say about once in 5 years) will restore your Rolex's time-keeping accuracy within COSC standards and maintain its value. 20-25 years from now, when you give the watch to your son/daughter, you'll be proud that the watch is an item of value, and that's long after you have forgotten the costs of servicing.. so you are not just passing down your surname, but also a valuable piece of heritage!
And to answer your question, Yes, I have a GMT Master that still runs reasonably accurately even though it hasn't been serviced for about 22 years, but it's well-kept..
Only a Rolex will do for me..a tradition passed down from my father and his father..
I have a love-hate relationship with rolex, i hate the prices but love the pieces..
Proud owner of a Rolex Explorer II 216570 polar since 27/2/13..okay..not anymore
PP advertises that the owners merely look after their watches for the next generation.. in truth, most of the high end luxurious watches like Rolex, AP, ALS, JLC, VC, etc, are also built that way, to last for the next generation, if they are not abused.
I have a GMT master 2 (pepsi) bot in 1999 and I have been wearing it daily as it was my only watch till this year. till now it has kept time really well. I recently bought the new explorer 2 as I am convinced of the brand's quality and reliability. I bought a new watch cos I want to keep my gmt master 2 for posterity. I am betting my money that this explorer 2 will be as good, as hardy.
