If you fail to declare at SG custom, the penalty will be 10x.
If you declare at custom and pay GST, than the price is about the same as SG.
Some ppl use the army method, “do whatever you want and don‘t get caught“.
Some will buy from private sellers here and let the private sellers take the risk.
Some will buy from grey AD or AD.

It is all up to your preference.

Jeryl, let me put it another way: I am sure you have heard many Singaporeans have gone overseas on holiday, on business, whatever and have bought many things to bring home for their family, friends and themselves, bought Rolexes, Panerai, PP, Cartier, Louis Vuitton, Prada, whatever branded goods from Switzerland, Paris, Milan, Dubai, Hongkong, wherever but didn't get taxed at all. So don't have to worry too much about it. Unless you plan to get a dozen Rolexes or something.
