  • Rolex from P--- K---

Went window shopping at Cortina and P--- K--- (Peninsula) today.

    (1) Saw the Submariner (16613) with Gold Steel.

Retail price was S$11,895. Asked the guy if there was any discount, he said no discount for this model.

Then asked what about the Submariner 16610 retailing at S$7,931. He said slight discount about 9%.

So we asked if any higher discount? Salesperson said chronos were popular items, hence less discount. The more common ones (Air King etc) can go up to 15% discount.

    (2) Saw a Submariner 16610, and casually asked the price. Lady said about $6900.

unless you do your homework on the pieces u want, else it is difficult to compare prices. also some shops are known to take advantage of customers' ignorance to charge them unrealistic pricing.

My personal experience three times at the Cortina (Raffles City) was aiyoh... For me, horrible @ terrible sums it up.

1st time I walked in was during Tempus exhibition that week, I just finished up a purchase for a Portuguese Perp Calendar at their Millenia Outlet. The Raffles City salesguy can outright bash me about my choice of watch purchase somemore, and outright told me off about wanting a discount for Rolex, when all I asked was "Whats the price for this GMT?"

The 2nd and 3rd experience were worse lah. 3rd visit was yest, had thought go and see G. Genta, but how the world did I know they do not carry the brand, again me given that attitude la. Maybe, just maybe its my berms and sandals attire yest which warranted such a treatment.

But well, for me, that outlet is on my boycott list

PS: Anyone has a listing of the brands whch Cortina, Hour Glass or SIncere carries?

I used to have a reservist mate working there, he just called me few days back to inform me that he's been transferred to the Blancpain boutique over at Raffles Hotel.
