I have seen this being shown on the forum called Oysterworld

It's a forum being run by a German collector. He may be able to help you. As far as I remember, the caseback does not do any damage to your original case, but you may have a problem waterproofing the watch though.

If it is a modern entry level rolex, I wouldn't mind experimenting with it if I were you. If it is a vintage piece, no way will I try this as the watch would be too precious to risk !

whether or not it is modern or vintage, it does not matter. they use a solid caseback for reasons. why change it?

it is like buying a car without sun roof and then install one. will the alternation bring in leaks? if u change to clear caseback, and u decided to take it for a swim, and it leaks?

                  the choice is yours.

Well, as I said, Vintage is too expensive to experiment with. Therein lies the difference.

It's a wide wide world, some people like to experiment with their watches, some are purists.

Wow! I am very impress with you under water picture, taken at 100m depth is still super clear and bright, unbelieveable.

What camera you used? Nikon? Canon? or sea water at California is so super clear?

the water pict was not taken underwater... Nonetheless, the watch was pressure tested at 10ATM and tested fine. The picture is taken while the watch was in a stream coming off the hillside and going into the ocean.
