      • What rolex owner think of panerai?
It's how BMW owners think of Mercedes Benz......

        • Never really did see the appeal, nor the justification of the price. After all, the very first Panerais has Rolex movements.

          That is... until I saw the Radiomir Firenze 3 Days Acciaio, see;
          http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/introdu...firenze-3-days

Credit where credit's due, that hand-engraved case is simply... stunning.

          • At first saw it on photos I liked Pam, till I saw the real thing.
It's quite huge in size, bulky head.. The shape about the same, 90% with straps.
Still prefer Rolex over Pam.. 👍🏼😊

            • I like both though I find rolex a little more versatile. Pam is more eye catching and more of a conversation piece

              • Used to own both rolex and panerai. But sold off Pam after 6months for more rolex.
                Timepieces that I owned:
                Rolex Submariner 16613LB
                Rolex Datejust 68273
                Panerai 104
Tissot T-Race Nicky Hayden 2013 Limited Edition

                • Panerai just looks cheap and cartoonish to me. The Brooklyn Bridge scandal totally made me steer clear of them.

                  • Had 6 Rolexes before trying out a PAM. I really didn't like there being so many PAMs. They are just the same old thing over and over again with minimal variations. So I only considered base PAMs, no complications, those that are a little more true to its roots.

Got myself a 176, titanium base PAM with Unitas movement. I have to admit I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's a big watch but it doesn't wear that big, the thicker croc strap and generous dial makes up for the case. The titanium case is very light and feels good on the wrist. The brushed case can take most scratches. It has a 5513 feel to it, the classic, minimalistic, basic tool watch feel.

However, this is probably the only PAM I'll ever own. The base PAM has the best balanced dial. The 12,3,6,9 is perfect. The 2 lines of text is perfectly balanced. There is nothing to distract you from the time. Did a rough time check, around +1min over 2 weeks.

I find the other dial variations unbalanced. I can accept the small seconds, but I can't stand the date window, the text GMT or 8 Days which destroys the text balance. The power reserve gauge is the worst (the 40hr semi circular sub dial design).

all look the same but different in size

                        sorry to PAN fans

                        • As a Rolex owner,I think Panerai can hold its ground against Rolex.

                          Panerai is my next target.

                          • More than 15yrs ago, i did look at a PAM basic model.
                            It was only $2k.
But never liked it enough to buy one.
Today, still dont like it enough to buy one regardless of price.

In terms of Rolex, 17 yrs ago, i had my first.
                            Now i have my 17th....

However, i hv nothing against PAMs
