    • Nice pair!

different styles of divers tho. One is more vintage type while the other is a model interpretation of the diver.

      both are great!

do you also own the PO LM?... cause funnily enough, everytime i put on my PO LM, which happened to be today, i always seem to think that its built more substantially than my Sub (which i had on yesterday)... regardless, i enjoy each watch for its own reason...

if you had never own the PO LM, your second point is moot...

          • breitling77:

doesn't make sense to compare apples and oranges...ive compared a regular omega seamaster auto right next to a rolex explorer II...

in terms of finishing, omega wins

in terms of movement, rolex wins

all these watch comparisons tend to be subjective...

my 2 cents cheers. lets appreciate the watches for what they are rather than to keep on comparing..to each their own

            • i think you'll get more comments on the PO more than the SD because, i believe the PO is more mainstream and looks more modern. the SD looks very tool watch, very divers... that 'normal' people don't really understand... i've even heard people say looks like seiko... -_-

              • Omega vs Rolex

                Guys,

I heard that Omega was considered superior on par or better to Rolex back in the good old days of the 50ties and 60ties??

                Is that true?

                Comment

                • They are certainly competitors.

Superior or on-par can be a subjective argument. It depends what you are comparing.

                  Here are some basic questions:

                  1) Who shows more technical excellence in using metallurgy and jewellery setting expertise?
                  2) Who uses more COSC certified movements?
                  3) Who has more patents?

                  • For some reason, people always compare omega with rolex. I dun think theres any better or not. Pretty subjective in the first place

                    • yup omega and rolex are pretty old competitors both of are superb watches i cant tell any major difference between quality of omega and Rolex
                      but mine favorite is Rolex
its also true that omega had a monopoly in late 50s in market

With me, it's OK with a classical Omega. Rolex seems too heavy with my wrist :-)

                        • It's like saying BMW vs Benz don't you guys think? Omega & Rolex are both well known brands in the watch industry, so it really boils down to individual preference in buying which brand. For myself, i'm into Rolex since the day i bought mine & i'm not thinking of Omega or others lolz!

                          • No disrespect to Omega lovers but other than the classic ones, the recent models are kinda odd looking... I think I would wear a Tag instead.

                                Hi WatchAdmirer,

Don't really know how to embed photos here, so will do it the quick and dirty way...I understand some of the links below are replicas but for the sake of convenience, please forgive me cutting corners here...

First photo...the hour and minute hands and bracelets look a tad Swatch-like. Ok, Omega is owned by Swatch afterall.

This Seamaster I understand is a replica...the numbers look like Franck Mullers...

                                http://www.us-rolexwatches.com/omega...38-p-2584.html
Again, the hands, the index bars...

Then there are some of the Aqua Terras that, well, kinda Citizen like? I thought Omega have departed from their classical designs in recent times. I have in the past been fascinated with Omegas and especially so with this model, first photo on the right...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_Speedmaster. My dad had one of this and it was beautiful. I still do find it worth a second and third look when I see people wearing it on the streets...
