  • Sea Dweller movement

    Hi Everyone,

    Newbie here need some helps:

Currently looking at a preowned sea dweller:

Anyone know when Sea Dweller start using 3135 movement? 1989? The start of L series L000001?

What is the difference of the dial "Swiss Made" and "Swiss T < 25"? $$ value different?

    Anyone got info/comment on this?

    Thanks

    Henry.

as long as the model number is 16600..it's a 3135 movt.

the 16660 was the last SD to use the 3035 movt

Though the Sea Dweller reference no. 16600 is discontinued, there are tons of them out there considering that it has a long production run before its discontinuation and they will surface in the preown market which will likely compensate for any possible demand for them, if there are any in future. So prices will not likely appreciate in the near future if u are hoping to cash in on any potential value it has because it is discontinued.

As for "Swiss Made" or "Swiss T < 25"dials, the former refers to the superluminova material used while the latter implies that tritium was used. The difference between the 2 is that tritium is radioactive of which overtime it loses its glow and will turn into a yellowish colour aka "patina". This discolouration is favoured by collectors as it gives a vintage look but replacement for such dials may not be easy to source for.

So buy what u like and wear it. Don't let the potential value of a watch be the over-riding factor in your final decision. my humble opinion
