How to know the year of manufacturer?

I'm sure like me he has some very good AD contacts on a first name basis, frequents these AD's often if even to get the latest "watch news" or catalogues, shows genuine interest on what they are selling, buys a few... and end of day the AD's will show you respect. - Right bro sky-dweller ?
