Hi.. thanks for the input. but if no difference, why people would pay so much more $ to buy from Local AD. I m sure there is a good reason behind it.

Even you have the privilege to travel, you may not familiar with the Oversea AD, trust is a issue and it takes time to develop, local AD are much reliable in this context, unless you are in this hobby for a long time.

I think 1 of the pros is that you save on the 7% gst, on top of the discount (if any)

no difference. warranty is international. not all of us travel that often. sometime it is not necessary cheaper overseas.

Even though some of the stuff are more expensive oversea.. still they feel shiok having bought from overseas.

To fully enjoy your holidays, you gotta live their lifestyle...so e.g, if u scrimp and save on food in Japan etc, you will really regret when u're back in SG.

You'll not really get the "feel" of their country.

That's the reason why some of our local ADs have set up showrooms in other countries like Malaysia, HK, etc.... Don't want to let singaproean spend their money in overseas ADs...

Well guys, unless you are on holiday, you don't have the spare time if you are on business trip. Saving is relative, you must check your exchange rate with local, now is good time to buy in HK, but got to check Euro if you are travelling in Europe

                              if i can recall correctly
during the economic crisis in 1997
many watch dealers or players from hong kong
when to thailand to grab all the rolex stock there
                              at that time,
                              they didn't adjust the price
                              and the demand there drop
because many people were financially trouble...
the currency were dropping against all the major currency the fastest

i don't know you will see it again
                              unless the euro fail

Based on my observation, I guess they usually don't mark-up the price in europe and then offer discounts like we do here. So there is a need to do some homework before deciding if the nett amount is cheaper after the VAT refund.
