  • Purchased pre owned through Internet.

    Hi all,

Could you advise if it is safe to purchase preowned rolexes from shop ads like http://www.timeandgems.com/
    http://www.aandewatches.com/ etc...
    Any recommendation?

They are rather reputable dealers overseas but...at that kinda price you can get any of those cheaper in our own backyard.

There is always a risk with purchasing online...depends on how attractive or rare the piece is..

That I must agree...but in the case of those above mentioned dealers....not rare, not attractive in terms of pricing. Haha

After including shipping and GST 7% , is the price still attractive? If no, i suggest you to save the hassle and purchase locally.

timeandgems are on the "watch out" list on the rolexforums. Its suggested to stay away from them. Not trust worthy and sounds like a scam.

Can advise which part of Europe can you get a sub c date (ceramic?) for S$8,500? Must bargain or list?

i've used 'the watch gallery' out of Melbourne and they seem good (not sure if i'm allowed to post website addresses but you can google them).

You can also look at chrono24 website. It's a network of watch dealers. But you still need to be careful - there's still the risk of dubious watches but less so than eBay

                          Thanks for the information
Personally i'd avoid buying over internet
Feel safer to see and touch actual item before payment

Buying online has its concerns. Risk of scam, risk of lost goods (or need to pay for high insurance). Also buy from Spore its better to try on the watches, scale it to your wrist and so on! =)

Or visit the watch shops when you travel. Personally, I find HK to be good for watch shopping - most of the time, you can find a shop with stock of the popular models. Price is cheaper than SG if you pay cash. Problem with credit card is the conversion rate the banks give you.
