Tap water accelerate wear and tearoom Rolex?

Hey guys,

I was washing my Rolex with tap water and wondering will that accelerate the wear and tear of the casing and bracelet should there be chemical reaction even though it is very slow. maybe I'm just too paranoid.

I think as long as you wash with soap and warm water, it is perfectly okie.

No need to worry the Stainless Steel on the Rolex is 904L, the top grade S/S normally used in special industrial applications to resist chemicals. ( as I know Rolex is the only user of this stainless alloy, due to it's cost. )

From my understanding, it should be fine. been washing mine with tap water with soap.

How about using distilled Water?

Actually, the sweat while wearing on your hand would cause greater damages on the metal.

I really don't think and am certain the above WILL NOT DAMAGE your watches.... and old friend of mine who's dad was a commercial diver of 30 years had a sub for some 20 years of this.... nothing has more abuse on a dive watch than a professional commercial saturation diver.

i was doing mine quite frequently lately llike once a week cause was sweating during hot afternoon. sweat smell
i soak my rollie in hot water + hand soap liquid + detol to kill the smell and remove any dirt stucked. did that to my wife's one.
i did that to my friend's in the office. and it was sparkling clean.

all above are OK la..remember this is 904 material even the low 304 and 316 will not worn down due to tape water..however will corrode if subject to dry n wet under marine condition...
