3186 movement compared to 3185? wiggle test.

personally i dont see the hype for a 3186 compared to 3185 as it is not easy to tell for those who dont know. it is more of a personal thing. unless you use a see thru case back. even then, those who are not aware of such difference also will not be bothered.

I have an m serial 16710 with stick (error) dial and 3186 movement. Only late z serials and m serials were made with 3186, and even then not all came with a stick dial. These would be more rare than the fat lady, which only came with the coke bezel. Nevertheless, the fat lady is historically significant cos it's the first gmt II reference.

Go with the one u feel is more special, and don't forget to factor in a cost of service when deciding on a fair price to pay.

^nim, either of the pieces he is considering will be preowned and at the minimum three years old. as a matter of price discipline, i always factor in the cost of a movement service whenever i'm looking at preowned mechanical pieces.

Rolex GMT II 16760 aka “fat lady”.. basically, it is slightly thicker than the rest of the GMT series. I think 0.5mm thicker if i not wrong..

seems like both are quite rare and hard to find..

if i didnt remember wrongly, error dial-3186 is rarer than error dial-3185.. do correct me if I am wrong.
