@Blueysmurfy - the built-in LED in the microscope makes the etching very easy to see without the need to tilt the Sapphire Glass. However, I did have to tilt it in such a position so that the background dial do not obscure the laser marked Crown.
Wow this want I like: I hope very useful for my Milgauss GV: makes the etching very easy to see :

    • I didn't know there's an 'S' at the bottom. Never seen it. Only for specific models?

      • The 'S' indicate that this is a replacement crystal. Not the original that came with the watch but it is a original replacement from Rolex.

Er ... yes, service is the correct explanation. But I assume the crystal was replaced right? I don't think the service center would be able to laser etch an 'S' on the original crystal, right?

So to have a better understanding, when is the 'S' applied on the crystal? Is it only when a crystal is replaced or for any other parts inside the watch that is serviced, so they also change the crystal with an 'S'?

              • Yup only when the crystal itself is replaced.
