was all ready to buy a Daytona Panda TT. nobody selling on forum or at shops for pre-owned so had to buy brand new.
withdrew cash in case can bargain somemore; checked my credit card limit in case which I busted any without knowledge
went on a sunday. saleslady was an old acquaintance and also know I keen to buy. Sat there, took out watch. Put on my wrist. chatted with her to catch up on the old times. have bought quite a few from her for 10 over years but just not Rolex.
Then wife called - she's with the kids and my in-laws and her sis+kids at united square watching high-five. sounds like they were enjoying it. hung up in a few minutes.
suddenly I didnt feel like buying the watch anymore. wanted to save the money somewhere for the kids (15mth old twins). saleslady was nice. she also has kids so we spoke another 30mins abt kids. told her I will get it someday but not now. she totally understands me.
left shop, called my banker, loaded up my mortgage and medical insurance. felt more satisfied. something like a really good fathers' day gift for myself.
so i guess that's it for the yearswift1.0/sunny1.6/sonata2.0/156JTS/Brera3.2V6/MINI cooper S cabrio/Grand Picasso/S300L

I am just not rich enough lah hahaha... else I would have bought ALL the insurance and the watch.
honestly, would have bought the watch. am wondering if it's a calculated move on my wife's part. hahahaswift1.0/sunny1.6/sonata2.0/156JTS/Brera3.2V6/MINI cooper S cabrio/Grand Picasso/S300L

With two young kids, i would have done the same and settled the insurance first. You can load up on your watches later, but insurance companies will load up on premiums if your health isn't the same now vs later.

My most recent purchase this month was an H series AP RO 15300. Made me feel like i graduated from rolex and finally moved on. I think it's time to stop on my part.
Maybe i'll just buy these things as gifts. Bough Dad one for Father's Day last week.
Earn the dough, but the best thing that can come out of it is seeing your loved ones benefit from it i guess."Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed."

nowadays my mentality is always about "will they have enough money if I meet with an accident?"
I'm the key bread winner paying for most of the bills. most worried if anything happens to me, will my wife be able to afford the same standard of living for the kids and our parents?swift1.0/sunny1.6/sonata2.0/156JTS/Brera3.2V6/MINI cooper S cabrio/Grand Picasso/S300L
