Some Advice Needed..Is this Clasp the Genuine Thing?

Hi guys,

Am currently being offered this Clasp which I thought would look sweet on my jubilee..

I am not too sure however how to identify if it is the genuine item..

Also I managed to take a marco pic of a slight chip/crack on the hinge..is this negligible or can it be fixed?

i dont believe the clasp is a fake. however the crack in the hinge is worrying. personally, im not sure if you caan fix the hinge by welding/soldering. but i would advise against using it until the hinge is fixed.

using this particular clasp in its existing condition would be similar to risking your life over an old retreaded tyre?

I will ask the watchsmith to see if this can be repaired either by rewelding or soldering..i understand what you mean with the tyre analogy..the clasp is similiar as it is being used daily and also keeps the watch safely on the wrist..

The clasp was produced around 1983 September, but the main issue is the damaged hinge, not really for daily wear.

Thanks for the advice bros! I have turned down the watchsmith and hopefully he can get it repaired soon before I purchase it from him again..
