  • Thinking to buy a Rolex

    Hi Ladies,

I'm new to this forum and to Rolex.

I never own a luxury watch and am thinking to getting myself a Rolex.
Been looking around and like the looks of the datejust.
Just that there are so many varieties that I can't decide, and not to mention how pricey they are.

These were the first 2 i first spotted

Can't decide between a scattered diamond bezel (more subdued) vs full diamond bezel (nice but seemed a bit too loud for daily wear?)
and I like the MOP watch face but that would mean another $2+K more An alternative would be a black face with diamond indexes.
I like the jubilee chain and that would be another $400+ more

So the cheapest version will set me back by easily $14K (after 10% discount).

Can't decide whether to fork out this amount for the watch. What's your take ladies? How did you gals make your decision? (ok for those lucky ladies who has many more expensive luxury watches that costs few times more than the $14K pls don't laugh at me). I've never owned a watch that costs over $400 so this is like a super big deal to me so pardon me if I sound v cheapo :P

    cheers,
    kj

helo, its great to have another lady here. Personally you have to go with your heart on which you prefer. Personally, i prefer the full diamond bezel. (since spending the money, might as well =p) As for the dial, MOP rings my bell. If your concern is on the cost, have you considered a pre-owned pcs?

Initially was open to pre-owned pcs, but then considering its my first rolex, and can't be sure about the condition of a pre-owned watch, tot i better stick to a brand new one. Its after all my first

there are quite alot of options for DJs, if you dont have a budget issue, just buy watch you like. DJs are versatile, dinner or casual they goes well, so it would be a worthy purchase. i'm eyeing the meteorite dial with diamond markers, still thinking haha...

If you intend to wear it everyday, it would be good if you don't wear too many blink blink diamonds as it is more for functions or special occasions as suggested by ljuay.
Talking about $$$, if you have somewhat enough to spare and you particular loved a design, just go for it and wear it whenever you want. Initially when I bought my very first watch, everyone was telling me to get a pre-owned as it is seasoned and that it's been well serviced by RSC. But first watch wor, like you I was tempted to get a new watch too, but end of the day its the connection to the design of the watch matters comfortability lor.

                        Hi kj,

$14k...u can buy 2 to 3 nice rolex....preowned...u just have to choose wisely n hunt carefully! Personally, with that load of $$$ammo, i would buy pre-owned n get to own a few pieces...try to get over ur "mental 1st" = more cost effective....

Was thinking along same line like u, but then my double business degrees brain n training took over the calculations n decided its far more wiser to own a few more Rolex pieces than simply a mental model of 1st...after all many of those Rolex pieces were first too...if u get my drifts?

But to each his/her own...so long as u enjoy ur Rolex...Welcome to the club!;-)
