I gotta to admit that i'm really poisoned with all these rolex watches threads...after getting my sub, i'm thinking of getting a vintage rolex.

Was at Top hour at Lucky Plaza a few days back and saw a couple of rolex precison. The design is absolutely lovely. Clean yet elegant design.

So, please please tell me how much is a right price for one of those lovely rolex....i'm looking at the SS version. Is top hour reliable?

Time to hold yourself down for awhile. I see you are interested in getting a 6694...but if you really want...may I suggest?

A Datejust at the least? The 16014 or the 1601-4 (there's a diff).

Typically I would recommend a 6694 or the 16014 for newbies who want to get a shot at Rolex but with a tighter budget. But since you got a Submariner already...I think a datejust would suit you better if you inisist on a vintage.

Top Hour is reliable...because they sell authentic pieces, note I didn't say anything about the prices

Price wise...it would depend on the age,box and papers,condition of the watch. But in the range of 1.6k-2k+ for a 6694 I would say.

Personally if I ever buy a DJ, it will be auto. I have ever over wind my father's 6694, ended up in RSC...

I believe if you do alittle more finger work, like searching this forum on 6694, you will gather more information on WHAT to look out for when buying a pre-owned piece. Especially what a brother here Triton shared recently.

Since 6694 is a 'vintage' piece, you may want to ensure you gather sufficient knowledge before forking out the $$$... so that you are certain you've done enough QC on the piece you are eyeing before paying for it... There are possibilities that the Dial has been changed, the needles, bracelet etc... Also even if you may not be THAT sure about how the movement looks like (search the search engines.. you may find some pictures on it) but acting "knowledgable" enough to insist the seller / watch shop to remove the case back so that you can see the movement, serial number etc may be tell tale signs abt how confident/honest the seller/shop is on their watch.

Since you are unable to get RSC to verify the piece before paying, of course it pays to know alot more before going down.. else you kana chop oso duno... I would highly suggest you get an eye loop or magnifier to scrutinise the piece for flaws as well.. the eye loop may identify some evidence on the authencity of the pre-owned watch.

Buy liao go to RSC in any case to "buy" an assurance that you made a fair deal or quickly return on the same day for a recourse. RSC will tell you if your piece is fully original or was it a rojak assemble piece.

Oh ya.. also check for service papers etc....

That's the problem of 6694 having to wind regularly, so subject to wear and tear...

erm..i tink hor..nothing got to do with the size of hands....hahaha...it is more of the strength that is exerted on the crown..juz have to be more gentle lor...hahaha..after all it is such a old watch liao....
