    Hi
do u mean doing authentication before payment?

Most of the shops want payment before authentication; while I know they may not honour their money back agreement, how do I proceed with authenticating before any paymnt is made?

    Thanx

when you buy, tell the shop that you will authenticate the watch. if authentication fail, no deal.

if the shop you want to trade with says it has non original part, then tell the shop that you will go RSC immediately to authenticate. if RSC says all original, then shop pays for authentication fee and deal at the price that is agreed

I recently bought a ss rolex from PP 2 nd hand watch shop and claimed watch in good condition. Brought to RSC to authenticate - good news is watch is 100 percent genuine but the yellow gold bezel was badly recut during polishing. Brought the watch back and good thing is they will make good on replacing the bezel. Guess is you need to do the leg work with 2 nd hand watches.

It's not "most of the shops"; any shop will want/prefer you pay first before bringing their watch out. There is very, very low probability that any shop will allow "take-and-use-first-pay-later". Try asking if Levi's will let you bring home a pair of their jeans to wear for one day then come back and pay if the size fits?

As long as you have communicated clearly with the proprietor/rep of the shop you are buying from, there should not be any problem because these shops have a reputation to maintain and a shop to front and run their business. So why do they want to risk it? Over just one watch?? But having said that, you also have to be fair in the sense that you do not authenticate after many days, and come back to them only then. It's best to manage your schedule first and do the authenticating immediately after purchase, or at least within a day or two.

part and parcel of buying a watch. Anyway risking reputation for a single watch is not worth it unless they look as thou they can close shop anytime. Unless only they have what you want, if not try other shops.

Anyway rolex centre is closed till 4th jan 2011. So i think the sales at the garage will be slowwwwwww.......

You can always buy the watch after getting it verified at the ROLEX Service Centre (Rsc). Communicate well with the seller.

                      Good luck

Can, but I won't recommend you do, even with guidelines...if you have no experience it's still risky.
