The condition is good and comes with box and papers. Is it better to buy a newer model compared to a 1995 model?

Personal preference I would say. If it's the older model means have lug holes and tritium dial. For the collectors they prefer the older 1s...

My chart at http://www.minus4plus6.com/PriceEvolution.htm shows $3,275 as the price in Sept, 1997 ($2,750 in 1992). If the watch is in good condition, with box/papers, you should get somewhere in that range.

I think sheldon got the message from the TS wrongly, the TS meant how much is the market price for a 13 year old Exp II from 1995. Not how much it cost back then.

Is about 4k to 4.5k... depend on the condition... the old dial always turn yellow due to oxidation... So should check the dial condition.

I'm checking the current price for a 1995 model Explorer II. Sorry for the confusion.

                      Two points to make:

                      1) The price mentioned by Sheldon is in US$

                      2) The price in 1995 can be used as a guide. For e.g. if the watch costs only S$5,000 (after discount) in 1995, then buying the same watch which is now more than 10 years old for S$4,500 may not be a good idea.
                      On my wrist:
                      2010 Seiko Spirit
                      2009 Tag Heuer Autavia
                      2009 Breitling Superocean Steelfish
                      2008 GMT II Black/Red
                      2008 Exp II White
                      2006 Orient Power-reserve
                      2005 Citizen Eco-drive

                      Wishlist:
                      GMT-IIc
                      Breitling Blackbird

I wont agree on this. Rolex prices doubles every 10 years..I cannot be following the price that the previous seller paid and go below that...we just follow the market rate.

Currently this model is not in demand, maintenance is a problem due to discolouration of dial, therefore, I collected a later series with the new dial. However, I can't say the demand won't improve in the future.

Some Rolex models' price surged, like dis-cont' GMT II was once cost lower than the Sub, now is priced above...

So, only future can tell, if you want to play safe, keep a piece to peace your mind.

Couldn't agree more... You only need rumors that Rolex is going to discontinue the Exp II for the prices to skyrocket...
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...
