  • Something for my parents

    Hi all,
I am planning to give my parents a surprise by buying them a watch each. They have never own any expensive watches (ROLEX would be a good start) and so i want this to be something special and also to show them my appreciation.

    1) ROLEX
    2) New
    3) Price range $10,000 - $12,000 for BOTH (a little extra is ok if it's worth)
    4) Models - nothing specific in mind right now. Would first like to know with the budget, which model is affordable to me. Parents are in their late 50s right now(just to let u know)
    5) Not in a hurry to buy. Can even wait for a few months! So when is the best time to buy?

Base on some of the criteria listed above, I hope to get some views on what to buy and then i'll go and do some homework before deciding.

    Thanks in advance!

But he wants both new...may not be able to suit his budget.

Well then again he says can stretch!

So must stretch the budget! Hehehe....Datejust man and midsize for the lady.\

With the recent increase of prices, I suppose only DateJust are within your budget and both old folks should like it. Moreover Rolex DateJust are the most classic & traditional models which everyone likes. A great child you are.

Thanks guys for the recommendations.. will check it out when i got the time to do so

ivaloh/desfrie : where got shame.. better late than never..

Well, actually i'm not from Singapore, Malaysian actually. raised in JB currently staying in Seremban. Have been working for 2 years now so i want to buy something memorable for my folks. Guess most of u are from there because it's a SG-roc

Any idea if I can get a better price in KL? But given an option i would rather buy in singapore because i heard there's a lot of fakes here and it's very hard for me to determine the authenticity.

Since you are buying new, buying in M'sia/S'pore shouldn't be a problem?

I think from ur budget u can chose from the datejust range, my colleague told me KL is cheaper even at the AD. Buying from AD shd not be a prb.... Unless u buy from grey dealer there, then got to be careful.

                          Bro,

It is wonderful to know that you are buying watches for your parents. However, some parents may not like it because giving watches has the same meaning of sending someone away. This is a Chinese belief. If your parents are not that pantang, then it is alright.

Tatz wat I tot too Clocks as gifts are deemed inauspicious for the Chinese, while watches are different.
