yes it is, remove the crystal and soak it in acetone, it should just drop off. since the cyclops is glued on by a type of "two pack glue". you can ask any watch dealer to remove the cyclops for you.

I've read somewhere that the cyclop is glued/fixed to the main glass. So in this sense, it should be detachable, I think.

                          http://watchmakingblog.com/2008/04/23/cyclops-removal/

with acetone a couple of things...

                          (1) dont ever get into you eye, it will denature proteins like egg tuning white on a frying pan. you will be blind

                          (2) im not so sure about soaking the entire watch in acetone, wont it strip the paint markings also on the bezel??? dont think anyone will have an experiment here

                          (3) wont the acetone strip the anti-reflective coating on the sapphire too??

Does it give it a matt surface or something?

i dont know, hence the "?" with point 3. most watches have some form of AR coat today.
any experts here can shed some light perhaps
