IN the end I bought this.. but on the other hand still thinking of the RG. What a dilema..wondered if I chose this because I am convinced by YG, or is it because the RG is not in stock? What a joke! Haha..
      Nice pics!

Guess wat. My wife has the exact same model but in boy size....to counter long sighted-ness.
She too saw many models. Pink MOB, rose gold, latest 2010 range, etc. In the end, I told her to choose this one for the exact same reasons as mentioned by your SA. She now agrees with my decision as she feels it indeed has a lasting look (nai kan). ;-)

Yes, same combination of dial, tt, bracelet, etc. Model number wise, 3rd and 4th number is different. ;-)

Glad to know my post gave you peace of mind. Evergreen, can match any clothes, shoes, bag, etc. Unlike, for example pink MOP, how to match with blue dress right? LOL.

You got a point Who knows if I buy pink MOP, I may regret in future when the fashion fades, and it will be too late for regrets. At least there won't be regrets for something evergreen. Peace of Mind

I love my rolex! I wear it even during shower after gym because I am too afraid that someone will break my lock to steal my rolex hence dare not keep inside my bag in the locker, am very paranoid

You can say that I am ignorant. I just browse through a thread that contains the price list of rolex in 2008. Am shock to see that I bought my datejust at $2k+ more than what others bought in 2008 exact model assuming the same discount given now and back then. Felt kind of upset that I didnt discover this forum earlier...... 2K+!!! and it is same thing!!WTH.

Look at it this way, in 2012, someone else will say the same thing. I too am just like you. Got my first Rolex not long ago. Bought based on wat i like without market survey. Wats done cannot be undone. Just enjoy the feeling of wearing a Rolex, a fantastic timepiece, on my wrist. ;-)

Its not just the price differential that you should be taking into consideration. whats most important that you paid a fair market price today. back in the day rolex cost $500-$1500, but all that means nothing to me, because of yearly price increase + its in the past. we dont live like mike fox in back to the future

I think what Rolex, like all luxury watch makers did is to price the watch such that the value does not drop over time. We all know value of money depreciates over time, hence Rolex needs to adjust the price upwards to counter the drop in value. $1 today is only worth $0.60 in 10 years time at 5% discounted rate. Hence, Rolex must increase its price to cost $1.60 in 10 yeras time to retain the $1 value today. In this way, it builds consumer confidence that they are buying something that will not depreciates steeply.

Other things also increase prices over time, e.g 10 years ago a BMW might cost $100k, now $200k... but after 10 years, how much can you sell it for?

What makes Rolex so special is if you have bought a Daytona in the 70s at a thousand dollars, now you will have to pay $15k+ for a new one yet you can sell your 70s daytona at $40k+....
