rather than keep using magical powers including black magic to bestow, why not share with us your experience since 3 members have already asked you to share your experience.
you have failed to share with us how can one tell a watch has been opened before.

My primary school teacher taught me something like "Empty vessels make the most noise"

Thank you for sharing. At least you show us that a forum is about sharing information, unlike someone who acts like and behave like Almighty and just being a parrot by just going around posting with information that others already shared.
Originally posted by triton View Postit is not easy to know if a case back is open before. some people will say look for scratch marks on the case back or any 'blunting' of the saw tooth pointed edge and so on.
however, with the right precaution, appropriate tools and techniques, a trained watch technician can leave no traces when opening a case back. there are other tests that can be conducted, but these are not foolproof ways.
unless there is a magical ink or its equivalent that will change color to show once the case back is open, else i would say very hard to tell unless the watch case back was open with utmost care that leaves no traces.
i have very limited knowledge, maybe can seek other members who have experience to share with you.

Nim, clearly you are talk big sort. Reason why I asked what certification or apprentice experience you have is because, in order to be an 'expert' you need to have handled a large volume of watches before...both old and new for comparison. Just because you have maybe look at a dozen watches unfortunately doesn't make you an expert. Even the old birds here who have handled many more watches and owned a lot more are humble. How many rolexes have you own in your lifetime, may I ask directly?

disagree because DJ is popular selling models and yet there is discount.
