    A noob on Rolex.

    Hi,
    I'm looking at a DSSD.
What should I lookout for when buying this series?
Are there any series to look out for just like those in GMTCII or Subs?
Thanking all Sifu in this forum in advance.

I think TS was trying to find out about "specialties" in the various series, i.e. something like those "F series Sub LV", "M Series GMT II", kind of "special dials"? Those "Mark xx" dials of sort??

I'm not too sure about the DSSD but have vaguely heard/read somewhere that there was some problem with the initial batches. Try google or wait for more information to come in.

            Really? Wow that's challenging.
Didn't realized buying a reputable brand can be challenging. ;-)
            Thanks, Nim.
            Appreciate it.

BTW do buyers really bring a loupe when they buy a watch?

and what makes you think you have the right experience? Unless you're from Rolex service centre or a qualified horologists, it's just your experience. Nothing wrong with open caseback or resized watches if used. Some people like to verify their watches.

it is not easy to know if a case back is open before. some people will say look for scratch marks on the case back or any 'blunting' of the saw tooth pointed edge and so on.

however, with the right precaution, appropriate tools and techniques, a trained watch technician can leave no traces when opening a case back. there are other tests that can be conducted, but these are not foolproof ways.

unless there is a magical ink or its equivalent that will change color to show once the case back is open, else i would say very hard to tell unless the watch case back was open with utmost care that leaves no traces.

i have very limited knowledge, maybe can seek other members who have experience to share with you.

Since you seem to profess that you know a lot.. Care to share your horologist certifications or training or apprentice? Otherwise it's pure theory and big talk.
