the more technical inclined SE will know, some dont even realised. another group of SE will know if information was shared with them, else they wont know either.

personally, i see that people are just capitalising on this to make a bigger profit. i am ok that people are paying more for the 16710 as it is already discontinued. but not when they are paying more because it houses just the 3186 movement say the case of explorer II.

for those people who grabbed the last batch of Z series of 16710, they could be kicking themselves as there is the M series of 16710. this is because they would have thought they got hold of something collectible already and now there is the M series.

do u think a zenith movement daytona is better than that of a in house movement daytona?

what i meant was, since they are in this biz line, they would know roughly of any mov't changes in the watches. Of course you will get the occasional goondu who knows nuts and trying to sell you watch

Yes and that's what I meant. I do not see the rational of why some are capitalising on this movement thingy to sell/even buy at a higher price If this is really happening in the private/pre-own sales, wouldn't it also happen in the AD sales? For example, THG selling 2 same pieces of ExpII for 2 different prices just because both got different movements. So, I'm of the opinion that this shouldn't happen. But plse huh, just my opinion ok. End of the day, willing buyer; willing seller.

          Cheers!

to be honest, for the same price (or a little more) you can get gmtII. gmtII has proven to have better resale value for the time being. of course if the expII is discontinued, the price sure sky rocket then that time, all will be saying, bloody seiko advice me to buy gmtII

Is it worthwhile to pay additional $$ for a movt that is different only by the blue parachrom spring?

After paying so much, will you feel S**k when rolex decided to use blue parachrom spring for all her watch production then?

not really a must have, if have, good, dont have, also can use/buy, since the 3185 has been around for moon years, and its history is a very stable one, not like it has been plagued by glitches unlike microsoft windows

I read in another forum that there is more to a difference in the hairspring for the 3186 c.f. to the 3185. There is apparently some change in position of some parts that results in the difference when doing the wiggle test; don't understand the technicality of this and so can't explain what the change is.
That change resulted in the height of the 3186 being 6.8mm c.f. 6.4mm for the 3185.

On the other hand, being the devil's advocate, wouldn't the discontinued 3185 movement be more "valuable" than the new 3186?? Case in point is the SS Daytona with the Zenith base movement... Prices have simply skyrocketed....
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...

3185 mov't been around for donkey years, therefore too many, but 3185 mov't in 116710 case would be worth a second look
