  • Explorer II, How does the Red Hand works ?

    Hi Guys,

I'm a newbie, just joined today.

I have a Explorer II.... and I'm not sure on how the Red Hand works.

It doesn't seem to be synchronised with the movement of Hour and Minute hands.

    Anyone care to explain.......

    Thankssssss

it shows a second time zone. The red hand is independent to the rest of the time. You can have it show GMT time whilst you are in s'pore. and vice versa.

Check out this site for an explanation. Although it is for GMT II, the principles are the same.
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...

You can independently adjust the 24h hand. This is to adjust the time difference you want. After you have adjusted and locked the crown back into position, it will move along with other hands, maintaining the 'time difference' you have set.

if i am not wrong, you pull out the crown one notch to move the hour hand until it is inline with the red hand. then you pull out the crown all the way and both the hour hand and the red hand will move together when yo move the crown. Pls confirm this with your manual that should come with the watch.

this is what i do. set the red hand first to your home time, then set the normal hour hand to your home time as well, making sure the date change is proper. subsequently, you can set your normal hour hand to whichever country time zone by just pulling the crown one notch and turning it. the red hand should not move and it will tell your home time.

Thanks for the summary of setting GMT...

It is tricky for the time zone in Big Country such as Australia, there is an hour different between Queensland and New South Wales, which I was not aware and missed my ferry...

that was because of daylight saving one state decides to advance their time one hr forward, but other states dont, come summer time, the whole continent is a bloody mess

it is also good to know what time it is back home, when you are halfway across the world.

like the time i was in europe, but had to manually calculate what time it was back in sg/oz
