  • Dying Daytona

    Hi there, need help urgently!

Current situation: Have a SS daytona but I hardly wear it and is too lazy to take it out to make it move every 3 days.
    1) Will it spoil if it doesn't move for a period of time?
    2) Usually how long do I need to service it?
    3) Or where can I get a good watch winder and doesn't cost that much?

P/S: Please do not ask me to give it to u cos I do not have the time to wind it!

    Thanks in advance!

then sell it to me lah

It will not spoil just like that. It's not made of doufu .
Depends on frequency of usage. Low use (ave once/twice/mth), then 9-10yrs. High use (ave once/twice/wk), then 4-5yrs.
This one, I let others answer u

I think Ocean has already answered most of your questions. The only thing I want to add is with regards to the winder... Many dealers sell winders now. Why don't you pay them a visit to scout for what you like? One place you can look at, especially if you work in Shenton Way area, is JW. I think he has some winders on offer now. I thought the price is quite reasonable. Then again, "reasonable" is subjective...
Time is too precious to be measured by a cheap watch...

            Will a watch winder "over-wind" a watch?

How much does it cost to service my SS daytona?
Can I get it service at any kiki lala place or I need to bring it to the rolex service center to do it?

Depends on where u go and the condition of the watch.

Yes you can go to those places if u trust them....personally I do trust them so it's up to u. Some people rather pay more and go RSC...it's personal preference

Go and find a turntable and put it there, it works well. I now looking for a turntable that is standalone.

Hey, I've heard fr some 'lao jiaos' saying that the movements in a watch may move in a specified direction (clockwise, or anti.). As such, if we are 'good' enough to know the specifics of our watch, we can get something that turns in a single direction. OTherwise, it is better for us to get a winder that is capable of turning both directions. I know most made in china winders now have those settings. Either turn clockwise, anti-clockwise, or both directions for 20 or 40 mins an hour, then rest for another 20 or 40. These features addresses what I mentioned above, and also prevent over-winding.

                    Makes sense??

                      Turntable?

Tell you a method and you try it out first.

Go and get a basket and hang below your fan and let it turns left and right.

Let us know whether it works or not

For those who drift like takumi from initial D, why not strap a whole bunch of rollies in the front seat...... and drift away in the corners
