  • Explorer II worth to get?

    Hi all,

Currently contemplating to get a black face Explorer II. Would like to consult fellow Rolex experts here whether its a good buy right now?
What the best price that you have seen it going for and from which AD?

Which is more popular? Black or the white face? Does resale value differs for the black and white face? How is the resale value of the Explorer II as getting it partially as an investment?

    Thanks for all replies!

expII as an investment......... I personally dont think so. If you want investment grade, maybe GMTII would be a better choice.
As for price, EXPII quite ok at the moment, went thru a couple of price hikes.

Where's the cheapest Explorer II at the moment?

THG @ NAC quoted $8k flat.

Lee Chay quoted $7.1k with CC, $6.9k with cash.

      Anyone can share? White Face.

Will answer you qns-by-qns and it is just my opinion:

        Qns1: " ... whether its a good buy right now? "
Ans1 : Yes. It has been a gd buy now and oso previously.

Qns2: " What the best price that you have seen it going for and from which
        AD? "
Ans2: Best price I've encountered was $6.5k for white and $6.9k for black at
THG @LP (last quarter of 2007). At the same time then, THG @MW was
        selling both colors at $6.9k.

Qns3: " Which is more popular? Black or the white face? "
Ans3: It differs from person-to-person but generally, the black face is more
        saleable.

Qns4: " Does resale value differs for the black and white face? "
        Ans4: Base on Ans3, yes.

Qns5: " How is the resale value of the Explorer II as getting it partially as an
        investment? "
Ans6: Please refer to seiko.citizen's response.

        Thank you .

Bought an Exp II (black) last year and I must say that in my opinion it is the least attractive of all my Rolexes, I bought it because I need it to complete the link of my Rolex sport collection, but the black face is at least better than the white.
if you need a Rolex sport I would recommend Sub (no date), it is beautiful in its own rights.
End of the day, it is still your preferance.

Agreed! Tat the Exp II is not the most beautiful among te ROLEX sports range. Still voice down to personal preference.

if comparing feature wise, id say go with GMT range, if you like the fixed engraved bezel, then the EXPII suits just fine

Personally, I actually like the look of the Exp-II very much (Tht's why I bought it in both black & white dial) but I agree that end of the day, the only thing that counts is your personal preferences... Try a few models on and see which smiles at you more

I personally prefer white face on the exp II....one interesting point is that there are not many sports models with white face i.e only daytona and exp II

overbudget now but not in the future. just tahan a little and save more. i was informed that the supply of gmt-IIc will be slightly more available than the current situation.

but i am of the personal opinion that expII white dial is easily the best looking in the rolex sports save for the sub/SD.
