Click sound during winding

Hi bros,

I recently bought my first rolex a GMTIIc and have been excited and happy while wearing it..but last night it stopped after 2-3days leaving it alone, this morning I decided to wind it and wear it to work but during the manual winding I can feel and hear soft clicking, after about 35rounds of winding the second hand moved and proceeded to set time and date without any problems. My concern is, is it normal to have soft clicking during the winding or it's just me being sensitive? Thanks in advance..

Ya the second hand auto moved after I wind it about 35rds..but u guys hear any soft clicking sound during the winding? Kind of worried now..afraid I might have spoiled the watch..

don't have this soft click on all my Rolex watches maybe because i only manual wind it for 25 rounds, after the first wind the second hand comes to life almost immediately...however all my Tudor new and old models have this soft click after the 20+rounds, i think this soft click is to protect you from over winding that will damage the watch. No worries bro...

Cause if I remember correctly when I first got my watch from grey dealer I wind it and there's no click sound..only this morning when I wind i hear the click sound even on the first turn..I guess I will let the watch stop by itself and wind again to see if it clicks..hope it's not a big problem And like what bro SamGMT said it's to protect from over winding..Thanks for the quick reply..

observe it for awhile if that grey dealer know how to repair Rolex watch then go back to him again...if not sent for check up to a reputable one...

Sometimes we think too much...just shake abit wind can liao..relac lah it's a Rolex movement...steady 1...if so fragile it's not a rolex.

When you fully manually wind a auto Rolex around 40 full turns ckockwise, and when its fully wound, then there is a slipping bridle (like a separate clutch) in the mainspring barrel you cannot overwind it.Now when fully wound,any further rotation of the crown will rotate the entire mainspring winding mechanism inside it's barrel. There will be a more resistant feel and as the entire mechanism rotates, it will slightly click into anti-rotation detente gear staff that keep mainspring from unwinding.When you wind a Rolex there should be a normal audible clicking and then a sub clicking more like slight scratching of a old music record when watch is fully wound.

if it moves and operates normally, no worry.

your watch is new and rolex movement is robust.

shaking to kickstart watch is not recommended. but usually will not harm the watch unless you shake hard.

if you wind different watch, the feel is different. no worry unless its a manual wind watch.

i wind the watch for 20turns and the second hand will come to life...hehehe...i do not do the shaking method...hehehehe.....

Do 20-30 winds. If not wind more, it will start.

Another choice is to do a few swirls, mimic the movement when worn on wrist.
