Anyway just wanted to ask, what models are really worth looking out for that are not super vintage but somewhat getting rarer and rarer as in being discon..
And maybe if luck has it can still be sourced?

Some say the pepsi, some say the older black bezel GMT, what say yo guys?
Erm and no lah, 6263 is way too out there to consider

    Thanks rollie gurus..

As long it's GMT II 16710 regardless of what color it should be fine... If I am not wrong, Pesi is more popular in the western and coke is more popular in Asia.

The next one in line I would think of will be SD

I am a bit of regret that I didn't get the 1675 full black GMT at about less than 5K (maybe 4.8k). That's about 2 years back...

    Cheers guys,

IMO, 1 that is worth considering and still within the sensible price bracket would be the discontinued GMT II 16710. But not juz any 16710, I'm referring to those that are in the M series (the last batch of 16710) as they are rumoured to have the anomoly 3186 movement in them. Not likely u can find them locally as the last batches of these M series 16710 were reported to have had only been made available in the Europe and U.S. markets. Juz my humble opinion.

Anyone conducted a "wiggle" test on your GMT II?

I did on mine GMT II Z-series and it wiggle and it should has the 3185 the old movement.

In my opinion, whether it's 3185 / 3186 movement, it works perfectly fine.

            Cheers,

the SD can be rebought in the market if you look quick before the prices turns voilatile and sellers start holding fort on so called discon model prices...

In this hobby I made two mistakes,

the 1st:-sold my TT black sub (my first Rolex), it is like loosing your first GF .

the 2nd:-the SD to finance my SS Sub Date, moment after selling it, receive the news from Basel that it is going to be discontinued, just my luck .

So now I am wondering whether to get the old version SD since I've already bought the SS Sub Date in its place .

                        Cheers,
Ya, the "wiggle test". This test was said to differentiate the 3185 from the 3186. It simply involved turning the hour hand and if in so doing, the red 24 hour hand "wiggle", then its deemed a 3185. Having said that, if i have 1 such 16710, i personally would bring it to RSC just to be certain. Anyway, for those who wish to try, such tests to differentiate the 3185 from the 3186 in the 16710 should rightly be confine to the M series with serial number from 2xxxxx since these were mostly the ones that were reported to contain the 3186 by their owners. If I remember correctly, only 1 or 2 16710 owners of the late Z series 16710 had such anomalies. Though both the 16710's 3185 and 3186 are great movements, what is distinctive about the latter is that it contains the Paracrom Blu hairspring and it in itself is an anomaly as it was once thought to be only found in the new GMT II(C) 116710.

this sounds like quite salted vegetable liao.. my mistake was selling my 14060m too cheap and also did not check properly when I purchased my 16570..the movement was faulty and in the end RSC messed up my whole watch..
